In this video, which is part of a series on Halloween makeup ideas, Matt Cail who is an artist and makeup expert provides some makeup tips for Halloween on Bear vs. werewolf makeup for Halloween costumes.

Matt says that during Halloween there is another mammal that people like to dress up as, and that is in Werewolf halloween costumes. Which is why doing makeup for Bear costumes during this festive season can be quite challenging, because the “Wolf” is a lot more popular to dress up as.

If you are careful in the way that you do your Bear makeup, otherwise people will think you are a wolf instead of a Bear.  There are a lot of similarities. Both types of costumes have a lot of brown in them – various shades of brown. They both have sharp teeth. Both of them are furry.

For the Bear look that Matt is showing he is going for something very intentionally different to make sure that no one mistakes your Bear for a warewolf.. The idea is to get a look of a happy, friendly, smiling Bear rather than a bloody, violent wolf.
